About Me
Hi! My name is Louise Teunissen, I'm 30 years old, a proud mom of a cheerful toddler, and a lover of nature, herbal medicine, drawing, and above all… making music!
Classical music was a big part of my upbringing. I started playing the recorder at the age of nine, and soon after, I discovered the flute – the instrument that truly stole my heart. For five years I enjoyed playing music together in both an orchestra and a wind band.
In 2015, I discovered the Brazilian music style chorinho, and I immediately fell in love. Its rich melodies, rhythms, and emphasis on ensemble playing make it a beautiful addition to the classical repertoire. I've even traveled to Brazil twice to improve my chorinho skills by playing with experienced local musicians.
I took private lessons for 3 years with a highly skilled professional flutist, Corrianne Hoekstra. After that I studied Classical Composition at the Maastricht Conservatory, with the flute as my main instrument. During my time there, my musical and theoretical knowledge grew tremendously. In addition to the flute, I also love playing the piano — I took private lessons from the age of 14 to 18 and continued to develop my skills at the conservatory.

Flute Lessons
For Beginners
With me, you'll learn the essential skills step by step: posture, breathing, embouchure (mouth position), fingering, reading music, dynamics… everything you need to express yourself through music. You'll learn to read sheet music and develop your own beautiful sound on the flute. Together, we’ll turn your favorite music into reality.
For Advanced Students
If you already play the flute, we’ll go deeper into refining your technique and musicality. Every person learns differently, so we’ll explore your strengths and areas for growth as we play. I love playing duets during lessons, as it helps you become more confident in ensemble playing. If you're interested, I’d be happy to introduce you to the Brazilian music style chorinho – a great way to expand your sense of rhythm and explore styles like samba and forró that you might not encounter in classical training.
Practical Information:
– Beginners don’t need to prepare anything for a trial lesson. Advanced students are welcome to bring some music to play.
– I have a flute available for trial lessons. For ongoing lessons, you’ll need your own flute.
– I prefer teaching at my home (in our cozy living room) or online. I don’t have a car, and I like to stay close in case my son needs me. I can make exceptions for home visits (e.g., if someone has mobility issues).
– You’ll need to purchase your own lesson books and a music notebook. Sheet music can be printed by you, or I can provide it during lessons.
– You’re welcome to bring your own flute music — we’re not limited to classical or Brazilian styles. Any genre you enjoy is welcome, and I’m open to all musical ideas!
