I worked with Jessica weekly for over 2 years studying Portuguese. I appreciated how thoughtful and individualized her classes are to me. She did this seeing me not just as a learner, but also specific to my interests and values. This makes the classes so much more meaningful and engaging as I learned more than just language. It also allowed for a connection to her as a person which I find important for someone I am spending an hour with every week for two years. I highly recommend giving her classes a try.

Jéssica has been so wonderful to work with! I have been studying Portuguese with her for over a year now and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. She is very thoughtful in her lessons making sure that there is enough material to ensure I am continuously challenged without feeling overwhelmed or repetitive. I am a slow language learner so that is a hard balance to find! She also very good at finding materials that are interesting so I get to learn cultural elements at the same time. Our lessons seem to go by so quickly because she is so easy to engage with.

I strongly recommend Jessica Bueno as a language instructor. I had the pleasure of working with her during our Master's program at the University of New Mexico, where she was not only my classmate but also my first supervisor as a Portuguese instructor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Throughout our time working together, I was able to witness Jessica's exceptional teaching skills, organizational prowess, and dedication to her students.
As a supervisor and co-worker, Jessica was a role model. She consistently provided valuable tips on student relations, methodology and Portuguese teaching, and was always generous enough to share her class plans and allow me to observe her classes. What stood out to me the most was her ability to balance organization and flexibility in her teaching approach. Jessica is highly attentive to her students' needs, and was quick to adapt her lesson plans to accommodate any necessary changes. She was quick to improvise, find new solutions and communicate whenever necessary. Not only is she an accomplish Portuguese instructor, she was an assistant Spanish instructor at Instituto Cervantes' Summer camps and this only strengthens how she manages different contexts. Be it in Portuguese or Spanish, Jessica always came prepared with a wealth of knowledge on any given topic, which instilled confidence in her students and made her teaching all the more effective. In fact, I was proud to vote for her as the Portuguese instructor of the year for 2021-2022, a well-deserved recognition for her outstanding work. Jessica is an experienced instructor who has dealt with a variety of students from a variety of backgrounds in a variety of topics.
As a classmate, Jessica was equally impressive. She always participated in class discussions and showed consistent eagerness to help her fellow students when they needed. Her willingness to offer guidance and support made her a valuable asset to our program. She challenged herself constantly, and was one of the few students who took our 90-book-long comprehensive exams on the same semester as presenting a thesis. The thesis was optional, by the way. Calling Jessica "hard-working" is an understatement.
Overall, Jessica is an experienced instructor who has worked with a diverse range of students, making her well-equipped to handle any teaching situation. Her gentle and patient demeanor, coupled with her dedication to her craft, make her an exceptional teacher and a wonderful colleague. I wholeheartedly recommend her for any teaching or supervising position, and I am confident that she will be an asset to any student lucky enough to have her as their instructor.

We met in Brazil at the university. She is a very kind person, she has a lot of patience and above all that she is very good at languages and makes the subjects easy to understand.
