Hello! I’m Marco, a passionate biologist and educator from Brazil with over 3 years of experience teaching Biology to students of all levels—from primary school to college. I hold a Bachelor’s degree and a teaching qualification in Biological Sciences, and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Genomics at Fiocruz Paraná.
I specialize in remote and hybrid teaching, having successfully guided 100+ students through challenging Biology topics during the COVID-19 pandemic. My Teaching Approach:
As a private tutor, I believe in creating a dynamic, engaging, and student-centered learning experience. My approach is rooted in Paulo Freire’s problem-posing education, which encourages critical thinking and connects Biology to real-world challenges. I also incorporate the STS (Science, Technology, and Society) framework to make lessons interdisciplinary and relevant to everyday life.
Teaching Techniques and Methods:
I use innovative tools like educational games developed by me (e.g., Surviving Cows and Genetic Bullseye) to simplify complex topics such as Genetics and Evolution. I also guide students through real-world problems and case studies to deepen their understanding. For adaptability, I tailor lessons to each student’s learning style, whether they’re visual, auditory, or hands-on learners.
Sample Lesson Structure (structured around Delizoicov’s Three Pedagogical Moments):
Initial Problematic (Introduction)
I start each lesson with a provocative question, real-world problem, or interactive activity to spark curiosity and activate prior knowledge.
Example: For a Genetics lesson, I might ask, “Why do some families have more cases of cancer than others?”
Organization of Knowledge (Core Content)
I guide students through clear explanations of key concepts, using visual aids (diagrams, videos, animations) and interactive tools (educational games like Surviving Cows and Genetic Bullseye).
This phase focuses on building a strong theoretical foundation while encouraging critical thinking and dialogue.
Application of Knowledge (Practice and Reflection)
Students apply what they’ve learned through problem-solving exercises, case studies, or hands-on activities.

O Marco é incrível! Cursei biologia e em muitas matérias eu só consegui passar porque a didática dele é impecável, a melhor que já tive contato. Estava com muitas dificuldades em entender assuntos relacionados a bioquímica e genética e ele faz metáforas e analogias e explica da melhor maneira possível. Ele tamabém é excelente em todo o tipo análise relacionada à bioinformática. Gratitão eterna a esse excelente professor!!
